Some Applications of the Newman-Penrose Formalism

Abstract

In general relativity, we show the use of the null tetrad formalism to obtain results concerning to algebraically special spacetimes and their null congruences with certain optical scalars. Besides, we write the Newman-Penrose version of the Maxwell equations in vacuum with the corresponding compatibility conditions for the non-null case.
