Matter Inheritance Symmetries of Einstein-Rosen Space-time in General Theory of Relativity
Abstract
In this paper we investigate matter inheritance symmetry or collineation (MIC) of cylindrically symmetric Einstein-Rosen metric. These have been examined for both cases when energy-momentum tensor is degenerate and when it is non-degenerate. It is shown that non-degenerate energy-momentum tensor gives finite dimensional matter inheritance symmetry or collineation (MIC) whereas in most of the cases degenerate energy-momentum tensor gives infinite dimensional MIC. There exist one interesting case when the energy-momentum tensor is degenerate but MIC is finite dimensional. We apply different constraint conditions on the energy-momentum tensor in each case.
