On Lorentz-invariant Theory of Gravitation Part 4: Review of mechanics of electromagnetism from luminiferous aether to physical vacuum

Alexander G. Kyriakos

Abstract

Our goal, the unification of electrodynamics and gravitation, demands a proof that the electromagnetic theory includes mechanics. An attempt to describe the mechanics on the basis of electrodynamics was made in the 19th century by some famous scientists, William Thomson (Lord Kelvin), J.J. Thomson, H. Lorentz and several others. They created a unified electromagnetic theory of matter, which in many ways met this objective. But it was a purely classical theory. In the present paper, we show that modern quantum field theory provides full support to this direction and fills the gaps left from these scientists.
