LHC & Tevatron Updates: 24 Hours of the LHC vs. 24 Years of the Tevatron & New Luminosity Record for LHC

Philip E. Gibbs

Abstract

This news article contains LHC updates for the period of April 29, 2011 to May 30, 2011 which appeared in viXra Log at http://blog.vixra.org. In 24 hours on May 24, 2011, the Large Hadron Collider has delivered a record 43/pb worth of collision data, equivalent to the entire proton physics run during 2010. Almost all the published results from the LHC so far are based on that amount of data (with the single exception of one report needed to squash a recent rumor).  This provides a convenient opportunity to compare 24 hours of data from the LHC with 24 years from the Tevatron. Also, (I know that it is getting a bit repetitive) the Large Hadron Collider has a new luminosity record as of May 30, 2011.
